SPAM® and Scalloped Potatoes

“Butter” is a great word because it kind of sounds like “better.” Which is fitting because butter does make everything better. In fact, it’s what makes potatoes better. That, and SPAM® Classic, which makes this buttery-tasting dish even better.

  • 1 12-ounce can SPAM® Classic, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter or other fat
  • 1/2 cup crisp buttered breadcrumbs
  • 4 large potatoes, boiled and sliced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 small onion, diced


  • 1.Heat oven to 375°F.
  • 2.In saucepan, melt butter; blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, 3 to 4 minutes. Add onion, parsley and milk. Stir until smooth; cook until thickened.
  • 3.In casserole, alternate layers of potato and SPAM® Classic. Pour white sauce over top; sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Bake 30 minutes.
