History of the SPAM® Brand / The SPAM® Story 1937 - Hormel Foods introduces SPAM® luncheon meat. Ken Daigneau, brother of a Hormel Foods vice president, wins a contest and $100 for naming SPAM®.

The SPAM® Museum Few experiences in life are as meaningful and meaty-filled as those you’ll have at the magnificent SPAM® Museum. Referred to by some meat historians as The Guggenham, Porkopolis or M.O.M.A. (Museum Of Meat-Themed Awesomeness), the SPAM® Museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of spiced pork artifacts.

  • The SPAM® brand previously sponsored the No. 9 race car in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Unfortunately it did not run on SPAM®.

  • Upon meeting former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, former Hormel Foods President R.L. Knowlton presented him with a can of SPAM® Classic.
