2 cup panko bread crumbs mixed with ¼ cup white sesame seeds
2 cups peanut oil or more for frying
4 slices thick white bread
2 teaspoons or more hot mustard
1 tablespoon okonomiyaki sauce
2 slices American cheese
6 thin slices of dill pickles
1.Bread SPAM® Classic by placing the slices in flour, then egg, then panko, carefully making sure the egg and panko stick. Carefully fry the slices in the oil at 350-375°F, until they reach a wonderful crunchy golden brown color. Let the slices slightly cool on a rack while you prepare the bread.
2.Spread the hot mustard on two slices of bread (bread will be trimmed to fit around the SPAM® slices) and the okonomiyaki sauce to the other two. Place pickles on top of the hot mustard and cheese on the okonomiyaki sides, then put the sandwich together. Trim the bread around the SPAM® Classic and cut in half.
